I’m pleased to officially announce the newest project in the works, Unveiling, which will be the first novel in the Knights of Nádúr series (copyright 2012 Erica Beatty). Please visit the newest page, respectively titled, to find out all of the details.
I have to admit that this book gave me more trouble than I originally thought it would. When I began writing, I would do so on a whim. I would get an idea and be so eager to start it that I wouldn’t think much further ahead than the original idea that I had. That’s why so many unfinished books are discarded in the very recesses of my computer’s memory with only a chapter or so. The more I wrote, the more organized I became. I would force myself to go through the process of writing an outline just so that the ‘write a chapter and forget it’ thing didn’t happen. So far, it’s worked.
However, I spent so much time planning out this book that when it came to writing it, I couldn’t get myself to sit down and concentrate on it. However, I’m very proud to say that the writer’s block has been shattered, and chapter four is in progress. Finally.
See below to get a sneak peek at the preface for Knights of Nádúr: Unveiling.
Happy reading, everyone!
PREFACE
The following poem can be found in a worn journal, placed directly in the center of a bookshelf on the upper floor of the Armstead home. It’s written in the tidy cursive of Samantha Armstead:
In a time not too long ago, in a place not too far,
Lived a woman and a man; the Moon, and the Star.
She was Earth and Water, He was Fire and Air.
Together, they created a land t’was most fair.
Their paradise prospered and there people were strong,
But soon there was trouble, and then, before too long,
The Sun hid the Moon, but there was eternal night
For a land that succumbed to the Sun’s wrathful might.
Then ten knights of Nádúr, two for each point,
Brought their souls together, and hoped if they joined
Together, they could take down the Sun from the sky;
They went on their way, knowing many would die.
Five knights returned, their souls and bodies scarred,
But a lone knight went back to battle with the Star;
He gave up his life to seal away the Sun,
But everyone knew that the fight had just begun.
The force of their battle split the land into two;
A place for the knights, and one for me and you;
If you listen real close on a night that’s just awoke,
You will hear the fateful words that the angry Sun spoke:
“I concede to the veil between land and land,
But I will always rule what was made by my hand.
I will wait for the one who cannot believe,
And into my home he will be warmly received.
This hero will rise, or this hero will fail;
He will either strengthen or destroy the veil.
He has until the seventh sun reaches the sky -
Hurry, hero, or all will die.”
